Which homeplug adapter for freesat

Can I connect a wireless router to my TV socket in one room and use it as bridge to the original rout er connected to my PC in the other room! I have just bought a set top box, my internet is good, but i plugged Ethernet cable into the box and its saying not connected can you tell me why this is happening.

I have a Samsung series 7 smart tv connected to the internet. My new Humax HDRs box can also be connected. What if any are the benefits of connecting the Humax box over my Samsung tv? I use this Link to product not cheap admittedly, but I needed more then one connection, in fact I have had to add a hub as well now Works very well.

Thanks for the replies - the Ebuyer item seem just the job and cheap. Posts: Thanks: 2. Re: Interwebs to Humax freesat box - wireless or homeplugs? If it was me, I'd probably play it safe and go the Homeplug route higher throughput, lower latency. It doesn't really matter which you choose if it's for data updates, but video streaming is going to be happier over Homeplugs.

The only downside I can see to Homeplug over wi-fi, is that you have the added power consumption of something at both ends of the link, as opposed to just one with wi-fi.

I recall it to be something around 5W each, although I think they enter a low power mode after a period of not transmitting. I put the meter on my homeplugs and the load was 2 watts each, the router was 6 watts.

The small TV is 20 watts. Message 3 of Posts: 30, Thanks: 3, Fixes: I used homeplugs between my Humax Freesat box and my Billion router with no problems. There's a Netgear router between the Freesat box and the homeplugs now, but that's another story.

Black Hole May contain traces of nut. I realise you don't yet have the privilege to post links, but if you can post obfuscated versions of the links to refer to these items on the web we may be better able to advise.

It seems unlikely to me there is any real difference between these items other than perhaps brand and retailer. There is no certainty the Devolos will last any longer, but when buying for the long term get the best you can afford, and having the power pass-through means they can be fitted directly at the wall socket without tying the socket up. Black Hole said:. As it happens I bought my Devolos by Internet order for local collection from PC World, as the price was also as good as could be found anywhere I had not twigged from your first post that dLAN meant Devolo, I mistakenly presumed it was some generic brand.

In theory Mbps is all you need and more, but it represents a theoretical maximum which will never be achieved, and I reckon the the higher the theoretical maximum is, the more likely you are to achieve something reasonable in a real situation.

OK, well I guess you were comparing this: with this: As far as I can tell these are identical except for the packaging, and PC World is offering a very good price. I bought these to solve my urgent problem: and these in slower time with some discount :. Deleted member That's reassuring. Thanks much for sharing! No need for Cat6 in a domestic situation whatsoever.

The thicker cores also require a different RJ45 if you crimp your own connections. I very much recommend the use of HomePlug with pass-through mains sockets. I know it's more expensive, but presents fewer difficulties - without pass-through there will be a temptation or indeed a need to run an extension between the HomePlug and the wall socket, which has a negative effect on performance. Well, good!
